Treatment with hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT) is a non-invasive method that involves supplying oxygen at high concentrations in a hyperbaric chamber pressurized to a minimum of 1.4 atmospheres (ATM). This generates a hyperoxia, significantly increasing the oxygen level in the blood, thereby in the tissues. Hyperoxia has many health benefits:
- Increases oxygenation in all tissues, including those damaged
- It has anti-inflammatory effects from vasoconstriction.
- It stimulates the cells that produce collagen
- It stimulates the immune response
- It increases blood flow, especially in poorly irrigated tissue
- It has bactericidal and bacteriostatic effects
- Accelerates wound healing time
- Produce angiogenesis, which is stimulating blood vessel formation
- Contributes to detoxification of gases and toxins
- Accelerates rehabilitation processes on ligament, bones or muscles injuries
- Stimulates the differentiation of bone forming cells and osteogenesis promoting bone repair
- Decreases symptoms related to depression, anger, sadness or fatigue
- Contributes to the regulation of oxidative stress
- Reduce muscle fatigue
- Increases energy at the cellular level
